Working with the Oil & Gas Authority to move off their existing IT environment
and standing up an entirely new IT solution.
In 2016, the OGA embarked on a project to set up and migrate to its own “Core IT” services, moving away from legacy services delivered by their existing provider.
Core IT services are essential services the OGA consumes internally to conduct its day-to-day business, including office productivity, collaboration, communication, network, hosting and storage.
OGEL IT worked closely with the business to successfully design and develop the OGAs new service model, define the technical architecture, deploy new services and transition the organisation to the new platform within 6 months.
The OGA were looking for an experienced team to lead the replacement and redesign of its Core IT services.
The organisation saw this project as a high impact strategic opportunity to significantly support and enhance the operation of the OGA and how it supports industry.
Built upon the following
The Core IT services were designed and built based upon the following guiding principles:
Cloud first
Buy before build
Always mobile
Secure by design
Handling user
The personal file store for each user was successfully migrated to their new OneDrive and sync’d to their laptop to provide offline copies. The first time each user logged into their new device, all their folder structure and files were available.
In addition, each users mailbox was migrated into Office 365 along with group mailboxes and distribution lists, meaning everyone could work as normal from day one.
